I put about 5 grams in a smoothie when I feel like I need or want it. Most people use it before and/or after workouts.
Effects (my experience)
Noticeable increase in blood flow. That “pump” feeling.
General good feeling, less anxious. Clear thinking, lower blood pressure.
Cost/Ease of Use
The taste is very mild, and not bad. I can taste when it is my smoothie but I have grown to like the taste (not that it ever tasted bad).

L-Arginine and Lysine can be used together to reduce anxiety.
The mixture tends to be used since a deficiency in Lysine promote anxiety and normalizing a lysine deficient diet improves anxiety symptoms in humans; lysine itself can act upon benzodiazepine receptors and is a partial serotonin 5-HT4 receptor antagonist (which is useful in stress-induced anxiety).
